In a huge boost for volunteers in our region, the Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce has today announced that Flynn will receive more than $66,000 in funding as part of the 2023-24 Volunteer Grants, which will directly support 22 local organisations.
Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce said that these grants were all about recognising the crucial role that volunteers have within our community.
"By dedicating their time and effort to helping others, our volunteers are the backbone of society. These are Australians who are resilient, selfless, and work hard to make our community a better place to live," Mr Boyce said.
"Volunteering also provides an effective pathway to get people into jobs, helps to break down the barriers of marginalisation and fosters community participation."
The 2023-24 Volunteer Grants provide organisations with grants of $1,000 to $5,000 to benefit the work of their volunteers. Including to purchase minor equipment, provide training, cover fuel costs, promote awareness of volunteering opportunities or adjust policies and procedures to strengthen member safety.
Mr Boyce said he was confident these grants would make a positive difference on the ground.
"To our volunteers across the Flynn electorate, I say thank you and congratulations. This funding is well deserved, and please keep up the amazing job that you do," Mr Boyce said.

- Kolan River Angling Boating Society Inc. ($4,499) – Honda portable generator
- Miriam Vale & District Community Shed ($5,000) – Mobile pop-up driver reviver
